I’ve been reading Jasper Fforde’s Thursday Next books. They begin with the JANE EYRE AFFAIR. Thursday is a literary tech who can “read” herself into the fiction world. She has amazing adventures with the characters you’ll recognize from your favorite books. Filled with humor and fun, the minute you finish one book, you’ll reach for the next.

In the fall, Samhain is starting a new program,  Retro Romance. My Viking bestseller, CAPTIVE HEART, will be among the first releases. It’s a story so many loved, and now new readers will find it as an ebook. I’ll have more about the book closer to its release.

I was recently contacted by a Brazilian firm interested in publishing my books in Portuguese. My books have been translated into many languages, but this is the first time for Portuguese. They are beginning with DRINK MY BLOOD, my vampire mystery. DESIRE, a historical romance that begins with a royal wedding in Spain, will be next.

As ebooks become increasingly popular, I hope to make more of my backlist available in that format. If you have a favorite you’d love to read as an ebook, please let me know. The books need to be scanned to create a doc file, formatted for the ebook market and new covers must be created so it’s an involved and expensive process. Because so many of my books are out of print, and paperback copies wear out, ebook copies should be welcomed. I’m also investigating Print on Demand options for those who prefer traditional books.

www.AWritersWork.com is a fabulous new web site where many of your favorite authors are making their out-of-print plus some original work available directly to readers as ebooks. The first chapter of each book is offered as a free sample which can be read on your computer or electronic reader.

I’ve joined AWritersWork.com with DRINK MY BLOOD, an original murder mystery with a decidedly sinister vampire. An aspiring novelist is murdered after his provocative idea for a vampire story is leaked to the Internet. His best friend, an university art professor, vows to solve the crime but does not know where to begin. When a beautiful colleague volunteers her help, he is swiftly drawn into a dangerous romance with a woman who could steal not only his heart, but his soul as well.

My second selection on AWritersWork.com is the romantic comedy TANGLED HEARTS, my popular reunion story which won the Romantic Times Magazine’s Reviewer’s Choice Award as best To Love Again book. It was a favorite with fans, but has long been out of print. I’m delighted to be able to offer it now as an ebook.

TANGLED HEARTS features three long-time friends who need dates for their high school reunion to avoid the humiliation of going alone. Carol invites a friend from work, Suzanne asks her handsome plumber, and Aimee finds herself with the former president of the math club. With a little creative shuffling the friends find themselves with more than a single night’s entertainment. The book prompted many fans to attend their own reunion parties hoping to have as much fun as the charming characters in TANGLED HEARTS.

I’m thrilled to announce my next book, DEFY THE WORLD TOMATOES, will be released in ebook format from Samhain Publishing, Ltd. in November. A print version will follow. Darcy MacLeod is a landscape designer in a quaint beach town, and part owner of the popular nursery and gift shop, Defy the World Tomatoes. When Griffin Moore, a renown concert pianist, moves into town and hires Darcy to landscape his new home, she finds the handsome man not only irresistible, but darkly dangerous as well. Griffin is a man as passionate as his music, and as he draws Darcy into his extravagant world, she must fight not to lose her own.

I made frequent research trips up the Southern California coast to select a charming location for the book. Once the town was chosen, its quirky characters swiftly came alive. I worked in a flower shop when I was in high school, and am always attempting to garden more successfully, so Darcy’s occupation was a natural. In Griffin, I sought to capture the passion and fierce commitment a concert artist must possess.

My Mac faces a window to my patio. It’s a marvelous view with thick magenta bougainvillea draped over the wall, enormous camellia bushes reaching toward the sky, and jasmine, which grows wild in the space I’d once wanted to plant pansies. The yard has fertile soil and everything grows in profusion. It’s an inspiring scene for romance!
